Understanding SSC CHSL Typing Test Rules
The SSC CHSL typing test is a qualifying round โ you either pass or fail. There is no merit ranking based on typing scores. Understanding the error calculation rules is critical because even a fast typist can fail if they make too many Full Mistakes.
Wrong word typed, extra word added, word omitted entirely, words typed in wrong order. Each counts as 1 full deduction from your word count.
Spacing errors, capitalisation errors, minor spelling errors where the word is still recognisable. Two half mistakes equal one full mistake in the deduction.
English typing: 35 WPM net (after error deductions) over 10 minutes. Hindi typing: 30 WPM net. The formula is: Net WPM = (Total Words Typed โ Full Mistakes โ (Half Mistakes ร 0.5)) รท 10 minutes.
